Europe Football Season 2004/05 Coming To An End..

Filed under: Footballs — Yatz @ 8:09 pm

As football season has come to an end for Europe’s leagues..It’s been dramatic in every single country..Last night..Barcelona claimed their 17th Spanish La Liga title after the drew 1-1 away to Levante..

Earlier on..Real Madrid drew 2-2 away to Sevilla..Thanks to a 89th minute header from Brazilian Julio Baptista..

It was a great match between Real Madrid and Sevilla..

Sevilla’s Sergio Ramos made a 30m, long-range effort in the 19th minute to beat Real’s keeper Iker Casillas..

Real levelled on through Javi Navarro’s own goal 4 minutes before half-time..

Zinedine Zidane made a stunning 20m shot which hit the below-bar and bounced into the net..

That makes Real lead 1-2 on the 74th minute..

As I mentioned earlier on..Julio Baptista headed home a cross from Uruguayan Dario Silva to make it 2-2..

The match ended 2-2 with Ivan Helguera sent off for a back tackle on Dario Silva..

Barcelona won the Spanish title with 6-points leading with 2 games to go..

The were crowned as the champion bcoz even Real Madrid levelled on point with Barca..

Real still lose to Barcelona on head-to-head record..

Barcelona deserves the title for great efforts from game-maker Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto’o..

In Italian Serie A, still 3 games to go..Including this week’s matches..

Juventus leads the table with 3-points after clinching a victory against AC Milan last week..

AC Milan trailing on 2nd-place..A lose in tonight’s game will virtually cost them the title..

Both teams have a similar goal difference..Where Juve scored 59 and Milan scored 57 goals..

Juventus conceded 23 goals while AC Milan conceded 22 goals this season..

The race is just between them as un-challengable 3rd-place Inter Milan were separated by 11-points..

Inter Mlan, Sampdoria, Udinese, and Palermo are chasing for the Champions’ League spot..

But a UEFA Cup spot would be enough for Palermo as it is their 1st ever Europe apperance..

In German Bundesliga..Bayern Munich had lifted the trophy before the games ended..

They will be moving to new homeground, Allianz Arena in the next season..Sharing the stadium with 1860 Munich..

Schalke 04, VfB Stuttgart, Hertha Berlin and Werder Bremen are battling to qualify for next season’s Champions’ League..

In Dutch League..PSV Eindhoven won the title with 2 games to go til the end of the season..

Ajax Amsterdam and AZ Alkmaar will challenge for the Champions’ League spot but Ajax is virtually guaranteed the spot on 2nd-place..

In French Ligue 1..There are still 2 games to go for the 20 teams league..

Olympique Lyon crowned as the champion as 2nd-place Lille trailing on 8-points..With Lyon still with a game in hand..

Lille, Monaco and Marseille are chasing for the Champions’ League spot in France..

Tonight the English Premiership has come to an end for their last game of the season..

A crucial last game for relegation-threatened teams and UEFA Cup spot contenders..

Chelsea crowned as the EPL champion and Arsenal finished on 2nd for the automatic Champions’ League spot..

Man Utd and Everton finished on 3rd and 4th respectively and qualifies for the Champions’ League Qualifying Stage..

Liverpool and Bolton are guaranteed a UEFA CUP spot for each of them..

The final berth for the UEFA Cup spot are challenged by Middlesbrough, Manchester City and Totenham..

A win or a draw for Midboro will automatically guaranteed a UEFA Cup spot for them..

Should Midboro lose and both Man City and Tottenham win, Man City and Tottenham will challenge for the spot based on goal difference..

A lose or draw for both Man City and Tottenham will denied them a spot for UEFA Cup..

Man City and Midboro will battle each other at City of Manchester Stadium, homeground of Man City..

Tottenham will play against Blackburn Rovers at homeground, White Hart Lane..

Relegation-threatened teams..Norwich, Southampton, Crystal Palace, and West Bromwich Albion (WBA)..

All 4 teams also stand a chance to survive in the English top-flight where 3 bottom teams will drop to Division 1/League Championship..

A tough game for Norwich and Crystal Palace as they will play away to Fulham and Charlton respectively..

Southampton will play at home to Man Utd while WBA will play at home to Portsmouth..

Fulham and Charlton have nothing to chase for..Neither UEFA Cup nor relegation battle..

So they might put on a 2nd string squad to play against Norwich and Crystal Palace to give them a chance to survive..

But the same applies to WBA and Southampton..Portsmouth and Man Utd have nothing to chase for..

Both WBA and Southampton have the home advantage against their opponent..

But WBA will be likely to drop to Division 1 bcoz they need a win and other 3 teams to lose in order to survive in the top-flight..

A win will guarantee Norwich the survival..They could still manage to survive if they draw against Fulham..

But both Crystal Palace and Southampton have to lose in their matches in order for Norwich to survive..

Southampton and Crystal Palace stand a chance to survive if they draw but needed Norwich and WBA to lose their game..

For that..They’ll compete based on goal difference to survive the league..

Fortunately..Even if Norwich relegates..They stand a chance to play in the UEFA Cup..

Bcoz they are 1 of the contenders based on Fair Play condition..

Anyway..The result will be out tonight..

For all of the 10 matches..Kicks off at 10pm Malaysian time..

Watch out for the result at 12 midnight..Til then..See ya..
